Whatās Happening: Tuesday, the Vegas Golden Knights became the first team to move on to the round of eight, defeating the Blackhawks by a score of 4-3. Wednesday, there were four elimination games on the docket, starting with the Blue Jackets vs. the Lightning.
Tell Me More: The first three games ended in series clinching victories, starting in Toronto where the Lightning eliminated the Blue Jackets on an overtime goal from Brayden Point. The Bruins also took care of business, playing a strong defensive game where they only surrendered one goal against. After that, the Avalanche dismantled the Coyotes, proving they are the team to beat in the Western Conference.
The last elimination game of the night featured the Flyers and Canadiens. Carter Hart came in off two straight shutouts, but the Canadiens broke the streak with an early first period goal and never looked back, winning by a score of 5-3.
The Bigger Picture: Thereās no question the bubble is impacting the quantity of seriesā weāre seeing end in just five games. Players of course want to win, but that voice in their head telling them that golf season and family time are just around the corner is probably a little bit louder when confined in a hotel.
