NFTs in FLA
What’s Happening: The Florida Panthers are partnering with Non-Fungible Token (NFT) developer Fanaply to sell an NFT collection called “FLADrops.” Those who purchase one of the first two NFTs in the collection — the ‘Golden Yachty’ or ‘Panthers Draft Yacht Party Lottery Ticket’ — will have a chance to attend the Panthers VIP Draft Yacht Party July 23, a press release said.
NFTs are defined as units “of data stored on a digital ledger, called a blockchain, that certifies a digital asset to be unique and therefore not interchangeable.” Fanaply has been developing NFTs since 2019 when it created one for Coachella.
“Through the partnership with Fanaply, we’re offering Panthers fans, hockey fans and collection enthusiasts the chance to purchase and bid for digital collectables and incredible experiences,” Panthers Chief Strategy Officer Sam Doerr said in the release. “Adding a contesting and experiential element to our NFTs is just that next layer to set them apart and give our fans something special to enjoy in the all-new ‘FLADrops’ marketplace.”
The ‘Golden Yachty’ is available via auction, while the ‘Lottery Ticket’ can be purchased for $10. Bidding and purchases must be made by July 18, and all proceeds will benefit the Florida Panthers Foundation.
According to the release, the Panthers will announce “new collections of NFTs throughout the season.”
