The Asterisk* Podcast
Now available on Apple, Spotify, Google, TuneIn and Stitcher
Hey everyone - we hope you’ve been enjoying our coverage of the 2021 NHL season the past three weeks. Behind the scenes, we’ve been working hard to finish a special project detailing the events that unfolded throughout the 2019-2020 season, from Don Cherry’s firing all the way to the Coronavirus Cup.
The underlying theme we wanted to discuss was whether or not the 2020 Stanley Cup champion would have an asterisk next to its name. But, we found the discussion of the NHL’s “bubble playoffs” only scratched the surface on all that occurred from October 2019 to September 2020.
The Asterisk* is a serialized podcast detailing how events that unfolded during the 2019-2020 NHL season will echo across the ice for generations. In this eight-part series, we chronicle the downfall of Don Cherry, what led to the undoing of the league’s highest-paid coach, how race is now being discussed in the locker rooms and front offices, and what the impact of the coronavirus will be on the league for years to come. Along the way we interviewed eight special guests — including ESPN anchor John Buccigross, Florida Panthers assistant general manager Brett Peterson and Carolina Panthers forward Vince Trocheck — to highlight the monumental impact the last year and a half had on the sport.
Starting February 4th, The Asterisk* is available wherever you get your podcasts, on platforms like Spotify, Apple, Google, TuneIn and Stitcher. Please rate, review and share The Asterisk* with fellow hockey fans and feel free to send us any comments you have about the eight episodes.
