Crosby, Penguins sent packing
What Happened? After a 5-3 loss to the Islanders last week capped off a 6 game series, the Penguins season is over. Questions will be asked of the Penguins front office after a lackluster offensive series and suspect goaltending were on full display in the playoffs.
What’s Next? It is no secret that the Penguins have an aging core including Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang. The front office must decide whether to continue risking the future of the franchise to try and continue to make a run with this core. Goaltending will have to be addressed as well as deciding who to protect in the upcoming expansion draft.
Crosby’s Future: Sidney Crosby has come out and said that he wishes to finish his career as a Penguin. It remains to be seen whether or not he will stand by this if the Pens decide to rebuild. At 33 years old and having an extensive injury history, how many chances does Sid have left in him? Would hate to see one of the greatest ever finish his career on a non-contender.
